Eliminate all types of E-mail threats before they reach your users and get a chance to harm your business!
According to Richard Corenthal, a partner in the New York law firm of Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C., federal law clearly establishes employers' rights to monitor e-mail.
"Once that is in place and the policy is provided to the employees, they effectively have no recourse," Corenthal explained. "Nor is there any expectation of privacy in the workplace."
Introduction
With the advancement of computer network usage e-mail is an integral form of communication between companies. There are many types of e-mail borne dangers that every company must be aware of and act to eliminate.
The well publicised loss to companies through e-mail viruses such as Melissa, LOVE bug, and Anna Kournikova highlights that individual anti-virus products are not enough to protect you. More comprehensive measures are necessary to screen against the various viruses, executables and undesirable attachments that are out there.
As productivity increases so does the possibility of abuse and the chances of liability. Offensive content and malicious scripts are damaging to companies through reputation loss, and can be expensive in terms of compensation and court fees:
DOW Chemicals Company have dismissed 300 employees since July 2000 for the sending of obscene e-mails (From Computerworld - August 2000)
Junk e-mail takes away valuable bandwidth and man-hours every year. It is not just an inconvenience but consumes valuable resources.
What is Mailwall Remote?
Mailwall Remote is a fully managed E-mail content security service that stops all types of e-mail borne threats: viruses, worms, malicious macros, offensive content and SPAM. Your mail is simply routed through one of our secure mail relays, then screened for viruses and content according to the policy defined by yourself using the Mailwall Remote web interface. You will be able to edit your e-mail policy through the web-based interface, then review quarantined messages and access detailed usage reports.
Mailwall Remote service offers better protection against e-mail threats than any single anti-virus product today: we use several leading anti-virus brands at the same time, systematically virus-checking every e-mail attachment passing through our screening system. Furthermore, our dedicated team of programmers, network engineers and security experts continuously re-evaluate the threat detection methods to bring you up to the minute protection. You do not have to invest in any new hardware, software, or make any changes to your e-mail server/client software or network infrastructure: the screening system is totally transparent to your mail system and your users.
By mirroring our secure mail relays in key locations with prime backbone sites kept with multiple Internet Service Providers, our system guarantees 99.99% service availability. The systems are located in high-security buildings with access control, power backup and fire suppression systems.
Mailwall Remote offers not only the highest security standards, but is also a very cost effective way of implementing e-mail content security: we save you money because we can offer the service at low cost by protecting many organizations and shielding thousands of users. You will not be exposed to any operational issues or hidden expenses usually associated with implementing e-mail security: new hardware, software or anti-virus licenses.
How does it work?
Before
In a typical scenario where no e-mail content security measures are in place, all types of e-mail borne threats and other unwanted messages reach your users and pose a danger to your organization:
After
The MX record for your mail domain is changed by you or your ISP to point to the Mailwall Remote address. All your incoming mail will be first accepted by one of the Mailwall Remote relays, screened according to your mail policy and preferences, and then forwarded to your mail server or your ISP. Mailwall Remote also accepts outgoing mail from your server, applies any policy preferences, and delivers it on your behalf. This process is completely transparent.

ECRS - Email Contingency and Recovery Service
Optional Add-On
Many organizations today depend on uninterrupted e-mail availability. The E-mail
Recovery and Contingency Service (ECRS) is an add-on service that takes the Mailwall Remote benefits to a new level. As all inbound and outbound e-mail is routed via the service server arrays, they can optionally make a recovery backup of all messages, and replicate them to the Recovery Server.
In the unlucky event of your e-mail system crashing, you can simply tell your users to log on to the Recovery Server web site -upon logon, each user will see all their emails sent/received for last 7 days, plus any messages actually queuing up that cannot be delivered yet (because of your mail server downtime). Your users can then get on with their work "almost as normal" while you have time to restore your mail system.
ECRS is an effective solution for business contingency planning. It does not require any maintenance or activation - it is simply "always on".

Frequently asked questions
Q: If our mail is routed through one of your secure relay systems, will you read it?
A: Our operations staff work according to strict security standards and procedures. We have measures in place to prevent such compromises in confidence. The RAF, The Home Office UK, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, etc. use Omniquad security solutions.
Q: Doesn’t my anti-virus software protect me from these threats?
A: Even if you frequently update your anti-virus product it is not able to provide complete protection. By adopting Mailwall Remote we can offer you multiple anti-virus screening; This is in addition to the content security methods needed to quarantine macro scripts, executables, etc.
Q: Do we have to change anything within our network?
A: Just one MX record needs to be changed for incoming mail - This you can do yourself, or your ISP will do for you. For outgoing mail a minor configuration change would be made to direct your mail via our secure relay.
Q: Which type of clients do you cater for? My network is only small, are we under threat too?
A: We cater for all clients with their own domain name: From large corporations and government departments to small businesses with no permanent internet access. Every company that uses email is vulnerable and would benefit from the service.
Q: If I have another screening product can I still use Mailwall remote?
A: Yes, you can trade up to mailwall remote. A dedicated team of security specialists will look after your email security. This reduces costs and frees up time spent by the system administration in updating virus and policy information.
Q: Is it more expensive than setting up my own screening product?
A: No. There is a flat rate subscription with no hidden costs for hardware, software or anti-virus licenses. Mailwall Remote is a fraction of the cost of implementing any comparable e-mail security yourself.
Q: Why offer reports to clients?
A: These monthly reports are a hard copy stating the policies your company is using including viewing the types of protection you are receiving: For example how many viruses have been stopped; how many images and .exe files were intercepted. These are useful for any system manager looking conscientiously at their e-mail usage.
Q: How often can I change my Policies?
A: 24/7. We have a secure web interface that will guide you through your policies. It can only be accessed by your administrator and his/her nominees. The nominees only have access to what the administrator specifies.
Guarantee!
Should a virus get through Mailwall Remote or if we do not meet the minimum 95% spam removal, then you receive that month for free!
